Stinnett Academy students and faculty perform at NHCTC

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire-March 27, 2006-The NHCTC cafeteria rocked, bopped, swung, and at times even danced like Mozart as diners, bystanders, and music lovers were all treated to a delightful concert by Stinnett Academy’s Below C Level Bass Performance Group and Spring semester Funk/Fusion ensemble. The Manchester New Hampshire Community Technical College partnered with Stinnett Academy Of Music to present a diverse program of music and information.

During the two-hour program, Stinnett Academy students and faculty performed and entertained in a variety of styles on various different instruments. Jim Stinnett, Music Director of SAM, orchestrated the music and MCed the event while each performer and ensemble displayed their talents. “Music is not only for entertainment. Music can be a key to the hearts and minds of students while teaching them the discipline they will need to succeed in any endeavor they may pursue,” says Jim. The level of musical professionalism displayed at this event attests to the success of Jim’s philosophy and teaching. Stinnett’s pedagogy, twenty years as a Berklee professor, and forty-plus years of experience as a performer have benefited many students, including Phish bassist, Mike Gordon.

Stinnett Academy Of Music is a non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching and performance of quality music. All styles and genres are included in the curriculum at SAM, with an emphasis on contemporary music. “My goal is to develop a program focused on helping each individual student learn how and what to practice to reach his or her goals.” Student performers included: Shane Allessio-Amherst, MA; Jake Caccitore-Londerry, NH; Brendan Conners-Andover, MA; Brent Rusinow-Boston, MA; Grant Stinnett-Candia, NH; and Mike Tucker- Lowell, MA. The SAM faculty includes: Rob Gourlay, David Howard, and Jamie Stinnett.
